A popular NSW South Coast wildlife park has welcomed a new stripy friend to its growing zoo family, with the park’s owner – and local celebrity – sharing his excitement.
Mogo Wildlife Park welcomed a baby zebra to its growing herd in late February, with zoo owner Chad Staples – better known to his 800,000 online followers as Zookeeper Chad – speaking exclusively with The Daily Telegraph about the birth.
“We’re all just so excited,” he said.
“The birth went perfect and everything has been going great since.”
Mr Staples revealed his zoo family was yet to name the new addition, preferring to wait until they get to know its personality.
“Zebras are such interesting animals,” he said.
“They’re all born with their own stripe pattern; every zebra is unique. It’s like a fingerprint on a human.”
Mr Staples said the herd was welcoming to the new addition, with zookeepers keeping a close eye on the growing family.
“It’s very calm and we’re very hands off with them,” he said.
“We provide everything they need and just keep a watch on them, but they’ve all been so good.”
The birth of the new zebra comes as the popular zoo also welcomes a new baby western lowland gorilla.
Similarly to the baby zebra, Mr Staples will name the new fury armed friend when he learns more about her personality.
Mogo Wildlife Park’s newest additions are now on display for visitors to enjoy.
