NRL player turned comedy personality Cooper Johns has walked away from this scary car accident on Wednesday, saying he was happy to get out “unscathed”.
The son of the iconic Matty Johns posted to his Instagram a photo of his white Subaru flipped and sitting on its roof in the middle of the road.
He wrote on his Instagram story, “thanks to everyone for their messages this morning”
“Scary stuff yesterday, glad to be out unscathed,” he added.
Although, the Kylie and Jackie’O show star saw the lighter side of the situation, by writing “can’t park there.”
Johns told listeners on the Kylie and Jackie’O show this morning that he was driving from their studios in North Sydney to record a podcast in the eastern suburbs, and that he had little memory of the crash.
“I was driving along in my Subaru, it gets me from A to B…usually, “ Johns said.
“My first memory is just feeling the hit of the tire. The cops told me they had never seen anything like this because (the taxi driver’s) car was not damaged at all.”
“He drove off, he was fine”
The former Melbourne and Manly playmaker said that he launched into the air, likening his car to a skateboard.
“His wheel worked essentially like a skate ramp, I accelerated and then I flipped.”
“I’ve done a 180 (degrees) and I’m sliding along the concrete on my roof. It felt like a movie.”
He said he was “pretty out” and “dazed” after the crash, but said his first fear was for the other driver.
“My first instinct was, did I kill someone? I didn’t know what was happening”
“I didn’t care what happened to me.”
Cooper is currently suffering from ‘whiplash’ and a ‘concussion’, and said that he was “spewing” on Wednesday night.
Luckily for Cooper, his sense of humour wasn’t damaged, as he laughed about drivers poking fun at the media personality, saying they were looking forward to hearing about his ordeal on the Johns Family Podcast with Matty, Trish and Jack Johns.
“Everybody was sledging, and having a laugh about it, a guy (driving past) said ‘can’t wait to hear about it this week.”
