The victim of Sydney’s latest gangland murder yelled “I’ve been shot” and ran into his home after being sprayed with six bullets by a gunman who had been allegedly lying in wait outside for hours.

Mal Seve, 28, was shot three times in the lower back and several times in the neck and leg when Taine Crompton, 25, allegedly opened fire in broad daylight on Carinya St in Blacktown last Friday.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Seve had walked out of his home to get something out of the boot of his car, when Crompton – who was sitting in the passenger’s seat of a black Mazda ute next to alleged getaway driver Hoani Tewhare, 18 – allegedly snuck up on him.

Court documents state a wounded Seve ran for his life as Crompton allegedly opened fire with a Desert Eagle pistol.

Seve initially yelled out desperately for help, before making it back inside his home where a triple-0 call was made, before he collapsed and died.

Police allege that after emptying the clip of the handgun, Crompton ran back into the car and Tewhare sped off.

Police nearby heard the gunshots and rushed to the scene, where they were provided a description of the alleged killers’ vehicle.

Other officers soon spotted Tewhare and Crompton a short distance from the scene.

A wild pursuit ensued, with the getaway car driven onto the footpath and median strip and swerving onto the wrong side of the road, causing an oncoming car to flip on its roof.

At one point during the pursuit, it is alleged roof tiles were thrown out the ute window toward the pursuing police car.

The Desert Eagle pistol and a revolver were also allegedly thrown out the window.

After several minutes, the two accused killers ditched their getaway vehicle, with Tewhare allegedly hiding in a front yard, while Crompton attempted to run, only to be surrounded by police.

Crompton allegedly attempted to assault officers, but was tackled to the ground and was left with facial injuries.

With Tewhare and Crompton under arrest, detectives swarmed the suburb of Blacktown, seizing the pistol, revolver and two jerry cans filled with petrol.

Detectives also found several phones in the ute. One of those phones allegedly contained instructions about a second getaway car.

Police are understood to have since seized a stolen vehicle they are examining to determine if it was the intended second getaway car.

Seve was once a member of a gang known as the Inner West Brotherhood, but is not believed to have been associated with the group for years.

Police are looking into any recent events that might have provided a motive for his killers. Crompton is charged with murder, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, hindering a police officer in the execution of their duty and breach of bail.

Tewhare was charged with murder, car theft and failing to stop during a police pursuit.

Both are behind bars on remand until their next court dates in the new year.
