A man shot in the face during a western Sydney kebab shop shooting targeting an alleged underworld figure may never walk again, doctors fear, with shrapnel causing significant damage.

A man shot in the face during the Western Sydney kebab shop shooting may never walk again, as doctors discover the severity of his injuries.

Aspiring footballer Kali Taiseni, 25, was chaperoning alleged underworld figure Samimjan Azari, 26, in the Auburn takeaway on Monday, when two unknown gunmen opened fire in what police said is an underworld feud.

Mr Taiseni was hit in the face with a bullet, but The Daily Telegraph can reveal shrapnel travelled through to his spine, which has caused significant damage.

The young man’s family, who haven’t left his side at Westmead Hospital, have been told Mr Taiseni may never walk again.

There is no suggestion Mr Taiseni is linked to the underworld, just that he was with Azari when the shooting happened.

Shop employee Yurdagul Aydogu, 47, who was caught in the crossfire and suffered two gunshot wounds to her stomach remains in a medically induced coma.

A relative said Mrs Aydogu had undergone two rounds of surgery to remove “bullet particles” from her body, but was in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Azari, who police said was the target of the brazen daylight shooting, is still in hospital recovering from bullet wounds to his arm and shoulder.

A third man who was with Azari and Mr Taiseni, also believed to be acting as a bodyguard, was not injured.

Detectives from Taskforce Falcon continue to investigate the horror attack which happened during the lunch hour rush, at 1.15pm, when two heavily disguised men ran inside M Brothers Turkish cafe and began shooting.

Shocking CCTV from inside the business showed the gunmen run to the back of the store and start firing, as Azari and Mr Taiseni tried to shield themselves with chairs.

The popular food outlet on South Pde is back open for trade, despite the horror of the incident.

“Business as usual, we don’t let this stop us,” owner Mohammad Reza Rahimi said.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the discovery of two stolen cars and a rifle found at Revesby on Wednesday morning.

A member of the public called police after seeing a group of young people acting suspiciously.

Police arrived and found an SUV crashed into a tree and a Toyota hatchback, both which had been reported as stolen. A gun was also found at the scene in Flood Ave.

A police spokesman said detectives from Taskforce Falcon were investigating if the vehicles had any links to recent public place shootings.
