Horrifying rap sheet of alleged teenage ‘underworld shooter’ revealed

An alleged teenage gun for hire, who police say was employed by organised crime groups, was on bail for offences including firearm possession when police say he shot up two homes.

An alleged teenage gun for hire used by organised crime groups was on bail for offences including gun possession at the time he shot up two Sydney homes earlier this year.

Taskforce Falcon on Wednesday arrested two 15-year-old boys over a shooting at Merrylands in March and another at Guildford West in April, alleging one was the gunman on both occasions, and his associate the getaway driver for one of the attacks.

It can be revealed the two teens arrested both have extensive criminal records, and in the months leading up to the shootings had both been charged with offences for break and enters, car thefts and even prohibited possession of a firearm.

But, much to the anger of police, the teens were granted bail.

Taskforce Falcon commander Jason Box said a combined total of 40 bullets were fired into the two homes – on one occasion narrowly missing a mother and her four children – with police alleging the youths were paid money by underworld gangs to carry out the violence.

“What these young men need to understand is, this is not a game, this is real,” Detective Superintendent Box said.

“They’re using real weapons in putting the lives of real people at risk.

“They are committing these offences on behalf of organised crime networks, who will retaliate, and who will continue to look for them until such time as they find them.

“It’s not a significant amount (that they were paid) for what they were doing, they could have effectively killed five people.”

The Daily Telegraph understands that the 15-year-old boy who police allege carried out the two shootings was charged with possessing a gun and more than a dozen other offences when arrested by police in December 2024.

While he was subsequently granted bail, he was last month charged by Taskforce Falcon investigators over allegedly staging getaway cars for use in other gangland incidents.

Again, he was allowed back into the community.

Police allege that in the first shooting at Merrylands in March, the teenager used a semiautomatic rifle to open fire on the home he believed belonged to an underworld rival of those who hired him.

But he was wrong.

Instead, that person had moved out, and now living inside were a mother and her four children – aged between six months and five-years-old – with one of the bullets missing a child by 20 centimetres as they lay in bed.

“She’s extremely traumatised, you know, she could have lost a child … not to mention that she was in proximity to that child and a bullet wasn’t too far from where she was either,” Supt Box said.

“So, you know, they’ve got to live with that and I’ve no doubt she’ll be affected by this with the rest of her life.”

The second teen, who police allege was the getaway driver for the Merrylands shooting, had been charged in January with 19 offences relating to a spree of alleged aggravated break and enters across Sydney.

One of those charges was possessing a prohibited firearm, but the teen was granted bail.

In the second shooting at Guildford West in April, police allege a home known to have associations to an organised crime network was shot up.

But the intended target was not home at the time, instead his girlfriend was forced to duck as bullets were fired inside.

The two teenagers were charged with a raft of offences by Taskforce Falcon detectives and faced Parramatta Children’s Court on Wednesday.
