Health Dept erases women and urges ‘pregnant people’ to get jab

A guide to Covid-19 vaccines has been rewritten to eliminate “pregnant women” and instead provide advice to “people who are breastfeeding”.

The federal Department of Health has been accused of conducting a “war on women” and buying into “radical gender theory” by republishing a guide to Covid-19 vaccination for “women who are pregnant” so that it refers instead to “people who are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy”.

While an original version of the document referred to pregnant women, the new version of the eight-page guide released last week on the department’s website has eliminated at least 50 references to women in the document, instead referring to “pregnant people” and “people who are pregnant”.

The revised guide advises that “pregnant people are a priority group for Covid-19 vaccination” because “pregnant people have a higher risk of severe illness”.

The guide also provides advice on what “pregnant people” who cannot access the preferred Pfizer vaccine should do, noting that “the reason for a preference for (Pfizer) use in pregnant people is there is more information regarding safety of (Pfizer) in pregnant people compared with AstraZeneca”.

People who have already given birth are also provided with advice on “the recommendations for breastfeeding people” and whether “breastfeeding people” can have the AstraZeneca jab.

Tasmanian Senator Claire Chandler slammed the government’s rewriting of the guide to eliminate references to women, saying, “there needs to be a serious investigation into the public service’s war on women.

“Every week I’m sent more examples of bureaucrats deleting references to women and females as departments compete for awards and approval of the lobby groups pushing radical gender theory.

“In the midst of a pandemic, they are burning taxpayer cash and public resources pursuing an agenda which is insulting and degrading to women.

“Australians have never voted for this and they want to know why it is happening,” she said.

Foundations of Western Civilisation Program at the Institute of Public Affairs director Bella D’Abrera called the erasure of women “a pointless exercise”.

“The federal government should be focused on the fact that small business are being decimated by the lockdown Sydney, not on cancelling women,” she said.

“In a matter of months, this government has managed to not only disappear women but also deprive them of the unique experience of motherhood in the name of political correctness.”

A Health Department spokesman said that “the updated guidance regarding pregnancy, breastfeeding and those planning to become pregnant was published following clarification of advice from ATAGI.

“The decision guide was updated and approved by the Department (and) answers important questions for those who are considering becoming pregnant, are pregnant or are breastfeeding – and whether they should be vaccinated.”
