A body has been found after a man was unaccounted for following a house fire that destroyed a home in Dubbo.

Emergency services were called to Mendooran Rd, Brocklehurst – 10km north of Dubbo – about 6.40pm Tuesday, following llowing reports of a structure fire.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) officers arrived to find the house well alight, before working to extinguish the blaze.

Despite their best efforts, the home was destroyed and the structure collapsed.

The man’s body was uncovered after an extensive forensic examination of the home, NSW Police said in a statement.
