This is the brutal moment a prisoner at Parklea Correctional Centre was set upon by a gang of rival inmates, armed with a jail weapon, as others filmed on a smuggled in mobile phone.
Shocking footage shows the man being repeatedly punched and stabbed inside the jail in Sydney’s west on April 27.
The incident has since led to an investigation by NSW Police and also internally within the prison, which is privately run by MTC.
Video of the attack, which runs for roughly one minute and was this week provided to The Daily Telegraph, starts with an inmate entering the small jail cell.
The large man bows his head in acknowledgment as he walks in before offering a handshake to another prisoner.
But a split second after that handshake is accepted the inmate is punched in the face by another prisoner, sparking all our chaos.
As the first punch is thrown a second man in a green prison tracksuit can be seen jumping up and also beginning to attacking the visiting inmate, while at the same time one of the other prisoners shuts the cell door and attempts to restrain the victim.
When the inmate realises he is about to be attacked he lashes out, throwing wild punches before ultimately being knocked to the ground by the group.
“You f**king dog,” one of the group can be heard yelling, as the inmate that is under attack tries to cover up.
One of the prisoners can be seen using a shiv to stab the victim, as others kick and punch him, and one even uses a screen to hit him over the back.
The entirety of the attack is filmed by another inmate sitting on a bed in the corner of the cell, who at one point appears to laugh at what is unfolding in front of him.
The video ends with the bloodied inmate on the ground with his hands covering his head, shirtless as a result of the attack.
In a statement, a spokeswoman for MTC — the private company who currently own Parklea, but who will handover control to the NSW government from October next year — said those involved in the attack had been identified and two inmates had been placed in segregation.
“On Sunday, April 27 2025 Parklea Correctional Centre staff responded to a group assault of an offender,” the spokeswoman said.
“They have since received intelligence the assault was filmed on an illegal mobile phone and have identified the inmates of interest.
“Both men have been subject to cell and person searches and placed in segregated custody while investigations continue.
“The assaulted inmate was provided with medical treatment and there were no injuries to Parklea staff.”
It is understood no one has so far been charged by police over the incident.
