Fireys are trying to contain multiple bushfires in the Top End.

UPDATE JUL 5: Bushfires are spreading in the area around Lambells Lagoon, with drivers urged to slow down in the impacted area.

An advice alert was issued by Bushfires NT warning of a fire spreading on more than one front along Cain Rd.

Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

Smoke from the fire may affect visibility while the fire may creep out close to the roadside.

The public has been advised to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions in the vicinity of the fire.

The situation is expected to continue until 4pm.

UPDATE JUL 5: Bushfires are burning in the Rum Jungle area, with locals advised to be aware.

The fire along Poett Rd is under control but expected to possibly continue until 4pm.

The fire is at a stage where resources are only required for patrol purposes.

Chances of a major reignition are unlikely but the fire is still producing smoke in the area.

UPDATE JUL 3: Bushfires are spreading at Dorat Rd, Robin Falls and Lennox Rd, Darwin River with locals and motorists advised to be careful.

An ‘advice’ alert was issued from Bushfires NT says fireys are responding to the blaze, currently spreading on one or more fronts.

Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution with visibility at risk and crews near roads.

“Firefighting crews are on scene. They have developed a strategy to contain fire. They will be undertaking back burning operations. Aircraft will be used to support the operation,” the alert said.

The fire is expected to continue until 8pm.

A ‘watch and act’ was issued for Lennox Rd Darwin River with locals urged to enact their bushfire plans and leave the area if their property is not safe.

The fire is expected to continue until 4pm.

UPDATE JUN 29: Multiple bushfires are burning within the Lake Bennett and Pioneer Creek areas.

Fireys are responding to the blazes at Chinner Rd, Lake Bennet which Bushfires NT say is currently spreading on one or more fronts.

Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

Bushfires NT are urging nearby residents to prepare your property now and to monitor the area as conditions may change.

Drivers in the area are being urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions as smoke could affect visibility.

The Incident Controller expects the blaze to be under control by 6pm, June 29, 2022.

Similarly, a fire has started on the Cox Peninsula Rd in Pioneer Creek, which is spreading on one or more fronts.

It’s expected this blaze will be under control by 6pm Wednesday.

Residents in the areas are being encouraged to monitor the conditions and check in on the fire incident map.

UPDATE JUN 25: A fire is burning near the Stuart Highway in the Adelaide River and Robin Falls region.

Officially located on Burrells Creek region of the highway, Bushfires NT says the blaze is currently spreading on one or more fronts.

Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

Motorists are being urged to take care as smoke may affect visibility and fireys are likely to be working close to the roadside.

Drivers are encouraged to turn on their headlights while travelling through the smoke.

The Incident Controller expects the blaze to be under control by 3pm, June 25, 2022.

Meanwhile, another fire has started in Katherine near Ironwood Station.

It is currently spreading on multiple fronts and containment strategies are not yet in place.

Like the Adelaide River fire, motorists are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely.

Residents in the area are being encouraged to monitor the conditions and check in on the fire incident map.

UPDATE JUN 18: A GRASSFIRE along one of Darwin’s biggest roads is throwing smoke in the path of motorists.

There are reports of a large amount of smoke across Bagot Rd between near the Ludmilla McDonalds.

The fire was reported to authorities just before 4pm, according to NT Police, Fire and Emergency Services’ incident map.

The blaze comes on the same day NT Health urged residents in Greater Darwin and the Top End to monitor their health amid smoky conditions.

It asked Territorians to monitor air quality and take steps to stay indoors and in airconditioning if conditions were poor.

UPDATE JUN 17: FIREFIGHTERS doing their bit during the Top End fire season have set up a blaze along the Stuart Highway.

A strategic burn south of Adelaide River was started on Thursday and continued to burn back into Friday afternoon.

An advice notice was issued via the NT Fire Incident Map.

Motorists along the highway on Friday were able to catch glimpses of the flames through the smoke along the road.

Top End fire crews are fighting a major, ongoing bushfire in Fly Creek

INITIAL JUN 16: FIRE crews have been called out to an ongoing major bushfire in the Fly Creek area.

The bush fire sprouted along Parkin Rd in Fly Creek and is being considered a heightened level of threat expected to blaze on until at least 5pm.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze just before 2pm.

Smoke from the fire is likely to affect visibility while the active fire is likely to be a danger alongside the road.

The public is advised to slow down and turn on their headlights while in the affected area to keep themselves, other drivers and firefighting crews safe.

Those living around or near the area have been advised to start action to protect their family and property and to continue to monitor the situation.
