Smart Street High to teach 1200 young drivers the impact of fatal crashes

A simulated crash site and speeches from those impacted by horrific road incidents will be part of a new class presented to 1200 young drivers on Monday.

The event, put on by AANT and supported by the NT government and Motor Accident Compensation Commission, aims to show younger Territorians the impact a crash can have on loved ones.

“The aim of Street Smart High is to have a positive influence on the crash rate of our young drivers,” AANT chief executive Anthony Hill said.

“We look forward to improving the skills, knowledge and road safety through this program,” Mr Hill said.

Smart Street High will be held on Monday.

It comes amid shocking statistics released by the AMA NT, which shows 83 young Territorians have died on the NT’s roads in the past 10 years.
