From next Dry season, Territory-based passengers flying Singapore Airlines will have access to a bunch of upgraded routes designed to boost connection options.

From March 30, 2025 Singapore Airlines will adjust its flight times between Darwin and Singapore, including a split schedule with late night departures three days a week, resulting in better connections out of Changi to Asia, Europe and the United States.

The airline said that for key destinations in Asia in particular, this would mean faster connection times for customers departing Darwin, as well as in some cases reducing the need for an overnight stay at all.

The Darwin-Singapore connections to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City and Kathmandu will all be 10 hours 10 minutes quicker with the requirement for an overnight Changi stopover eliminated.

The Darwin-Singapore-Jakarta route will be an hour and 45 minutes shorter with a morning arrival instead of night and the Darwin-Singapore-Chennai run will take two hours 30 minutes less and also have a morning arrival rather than late at night.

The Darwin-Singapore-Manila route will also be two hours and 50 minutes shorter.

Additionally, this will allow connectivity to a greater number of European flight routes, including London Heathrow (SQ308/ SINLHR), Paris (SQ332/ SINCDG) and Frankfurt (SQ326/ SINFRA). With two departure options for these destinations across the week, customers can enjoy their choice of flight, with efficient connections for their onward journeys to Europe.

Singapore Airlines – and its subsidiary Silk Air – has been flying into the Northern Territory since the 1980s and was one of the first international airlines to resume NT flights after Covid.

The airline increased flights out of Darwin in April from five days to seven days a week.

Qantas pushed back plans to launch a new Darwin Singapore route from December until March 2025.
