UPDATE, FRI 1PM: SEBASTIAN Robinson’s condition has improved and he is now considered in a stable condition.

Robinson survived Monday’s helicopter crash that claimed the life of Outback Wrangler member Chris “Willow” Wilson.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital said it was unlikely his condition would change much in the next 24 hour period.

THURS 6PM: THE young helicopter pilot who survived Monday’s crash on the King River is slowly recovering with his condition upgraded to serious.

Sebastian Robinson, 28, suffered serious injuries in the crash, which killed fellow Outback Wrangler member Chris ‘Willow’ Wilson while the pair were in West Arnhem Land.

Mr Robinson was originally flown to Royal Darwin Hospital and was later transferred to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Tuesday. He arrived in hospital in a critical but stable condition and remained as such until late on Thursday when his condition changed to serious.

People have since rallied online, particularly on Facebook, to post messages of love and support for the young Territorian and his family.

“Sending love and support to all the families involved. Keep fighting Sebastian,” Rylee Longstaff said.

“Sending my love and prayers out to Bas and thinking of his family also,” Tracy Sutton said.

Another wellwisher commented, “I don’t know the guy but what a terrible thing to happen. All the best to you and your family mate. God bless you and see you flying again one day eh.”

“C’mon Seb, make your mother prouder by fighting the good fight and living your dream,” Jenny Izod said.

The crash continues to be investigated by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

Police were notified of the crash shortly before 11am and officers from Goulburn Island were deployed by boat to the accident site.

Young pilot still in critical condition after chopper crash

A YOUNG chopper pilot is fighting for his life following a horror crash in a remote part of West Arnhem Land.

Sebastian Robinson, 28, was the survivor of a helicopter crash at the King River on Monday morning, which killed 34-year-old father, Chris ‘Willow’ Wilson.

But the horror crash left Mr Robinson with serious injuries.

NT Police confirmed Rescue agency CareFlight also dispatched a rescue helicopter and the Australian Rescue Coordination Centre, Civil Aviation Safety Authority and NT WorkSafe were all alerted to the incident.

Mr Robinson was flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, a Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital spokeswoman confirmed the 28-year-old was then taken to Brisbane in a critical but stable condition.

It is understood both men worked on the National Geographic’s reality television show, Outback Wrangler.

Matt Wright, the host of Outback Wrangler, said he and the entire team were “absolutely devastated” to lose their best friend Chris, and were concerned about their “deeply loved colleague Sebastian Robinson”.

“Our love and thoughts are with Chris’ wife Danielle and two little boys Ted and Austin as well as the families and friends of Chris and Seb during this incredibly tough time,” a statement from his company said.

“Matt Wright and his team are assisting authorities with their investigations as to what caused this awful incident.”
