NTFL 2024-25 live stream: Watch PINT v Darwin Buffaloes women Round 1

They started fast but PINT couldn’t maintain the momentum and were left desperately hanging on at the end of their women’s season opener against Darwin Buffaloes. Catch up on the REPLAY.

Replay: PINT v Darwin - NTFL Women's Premier League Round 1

Defending NTFL women’s champions PINT may have dominated the opening quarter, but they only scraped through to the win against a Darwin Buffettes that very nearly stole the show.

The Queenants are targeting an NTFL three-peat, but were made to work for their victory by a grity opponent, scraping through to a 5.8 (38) to 5.3 (33) success.

PINT started their season as if they hadn’t missed a beat from their grand final victory, bringing the early pressure and laying on the goals.

Regular best and fairest winner Jasmyn Hewett dominated in the ruck while Amy Chittick set up the scoring in the forward line for the likes of Casey Morris and Stella Ajani.

Meanwhile, the Buffaloes were left without a point at quarter time and staring down a big deficit they had to quickly rectify.

And they did so impresively, with recent VFLW best and fairest winner Dom Carbone contributing the big clearances on her return to the Double Blues.

Her ability to get the ball downfield caused a second quarter reversal in fortunes, with vice-captain Nicole Schmitt getting the side on the board.

A contribution from last year’s leading goalscorer Steph Lawrence was a rare attack for the Queenants in the second, but otherwise the scoring was all one way to the Buffs who chipped away at the margin.

Keanne Hart-Aluni and Tayla Hart-Aluni were threats in front of goal for the Buffettes, while their title-holding opposition missed plenty of opportunities.

But it was the clock that saved the day for the Queenants with the siren blaring as the Buffettes looked likely for one more attacking effort.

PREVIEW

It’s the champs first up.

The PINT charge towards a premiership three-peat pits them against the side to put the biggest dent in their recent dynasty, the Darwin Buffettes.

And the NT News and KommunityTV will stream every moment from midday on Saturday.

The Buffettes triumphed in the 2021-22 season separating the Queenants first premiership from their most recent two, at a time when the Darwin outfit’s juniors soared on to the scene.

Many of those players have since found success interstate, including Western Bulldogs VFLW captain and Lambert-Pearce Medal winner Dom Carbone, who has been named on the Buffs list.

Bianca Stokes leads a side eager for an early win against the premiers. Veterans Tania Dhu and Kylie Duggan as well as Essendon VFLW player Tayla Hart-Aluni are ones to watch as well.

Despite a change at coach, PINT still have plenty of the talent that continue to show up year after year.

Two-time best and fairest winner Jasmyn Hewett is back, as is ball magnet Reni Hicks, who has been named as captain.

Up forward, sights will be set on Steph Lawrence, who was the leading goal scorer last season, while Amy Chittick can also cause plenty of damage on the scoreboard.

Watch the full replay at the end of the game.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to live stream both the men’s and women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
