Governor-General to attend Darwin Dawn Service, Cenotaph 100th anniversary
The Governor-General’s office has confirmed David Hurley and his wife will be in Darwin for the Dawn Service, as well as the 100th anniversary of the Darwin Cenotaph.

GOVERNOR-General David Hurley’s office has confirmed he and his wife will be in Darwin for the Dawn Service on Anzac Day, as well as the 100th anniversary of the Darwin Cenotaph.
The Cenotaph, which is located at the Esplanade, was erected in 1921 to remember soldiers who fought in World War One.

Mr Hurley will first appear at the 100th anniversary of the Cenotaph and an official ceremony for the new electric Eternal Flame on Saturday.
The Dawn Service will begin at 6am with the street march beginning at 9am to track between the Esplanade and Cavenagh and Knuckey streets.
Darwin RSL president Steven Gloster said the event on Saturday would begin at 4.30pm.
Mr Gloster said the Governor-General was attending at the invitation of the Darwin RSL sub-branch.
