STAFF at Danila Dilba’s Covid-19 clinic are vaccinating about 500 people a month but warn rates will need to pick up considerably for the Territory to achieve herd immunity.
Head of clinical governance Sharni Cardona said the NT would not beat the virus unless more people booked in to roll up their sleeves.
“With the numbers we’re experiencing, I think we need to get a lot more through to get close to herd immunity,” she said.
“We have enough vaccines to go around so we just need people to come and book.”
Thomas Mayor, who got his second AstraZeneca shot on Monday, said everyone had a role to play in protecting vulnerable Territorians.
“It’s a very dangerous virus and you’re best chance of surviving and keeping your elders safe is to get the vaccination,” he said.
“We need everybody to be lining up, ringing up the clinics and getting booked in.”
