Only 29 replacement case managers could be found over that same period.

There were 72 assaults on youth justice officers reported.

The Opposition’s Territory Families spokesman Josh Burgoyne said the statistics made the case for youth justice to be overhauled.

“It’s worrying signs that there are so many people leaving and that they’re struggling to actually get to join up,” Mr Burgoyne said.

“We want Territory Families to do their core work, which is looking after families, looking after young people.”

“And we want Corrections to actually deal with youth, with youth justice, with the detention of young people.”

Territory Families Minister Kate Worden has been contacted for comment.
