Passenger’s on-board the Queen Anne were treated to an experienced many had given little thought about as their luxury cruise ship pulled out of Darwin Harbor recently.

The first new ship in the Cunard cruise line’s fleet in 14 years, it was on its first Australian visit as part of its 107-day maiden World Voyage.

It left Darwin on March 11 after a safe and pleasant two day stopover bound for South-East Asia.

However since then a passenger has shared the moment, just two days later, people on-board were told to turn off their lights and close their curtains amid pirate concerns.

A TikToker by the name of @lillydapink, posted a video of the on-board announcement made on March 13 as the Queen Ann made its way to Manila, Philippines.

The video has had around nine million views with the safety announcement saying:

“This area is known for piracy threats,” the announcement said.

“We will be operating at a heightened level of security alertness during this period.

“The external promenade deck will be closed on both sides from 9pm to 5am overnight between the night of March 14 and 15.

“No guests will be allowed access during these times for the duration of the transit.”

“During the hours of darkness, only essential open deck lights will be on to reduce the ship’s external lighting,” the captain said.

“We also request that you turn off your stateroom lights when not needed and close the curtains of your stateroom window or balcony.

“I assure you that measures to prevent any unlikely incident have been well planned and the likelihood of this happening on a big ship like Queen Anne is absolutely minimal.”

The Queen Anne is carrying. 3000 passengers and 1200 crew.
