Bushfire near Bagot Community causes concern to local residents

A bushfire flared up in the vicinity of Bagot Community in Ludmilla.

A bushfire which broke out in Ludmilla near Bagot Road caused locals some concern on Monday afternoon.

The grass and scrub fire near Bagot Community was first reported at 12.12pm in some nearby scrubland next to the community’s basketball courts.

The dry scrub quickly ignited and sent a pall of smoke billow in the area.

Emergency services were quick to respond and attended the scene shortly after and fought the blaze.

The incident was wrapped up within 20 minutes and fire units were seen leaving the site around 12.40pm after making the area safe.

The incident follows after the Top End has entered bushfire season which runs from April to November.

When contacted to comment, NTFRS said it was too early to conclude the cause of the small grass fire.
