Lifelong Territory resident Brooke McManus has been announced to take on the coveted role as the 2025 Great Northern Darwin Cup Carnival ambassador.

The sixth generation Territorian has been around racing, and particularly the Darwin Cup, since she first visited as a 16-year-old.

She said she had looked up to previous ambassadors and now it was really exciting to have been named the stand out candidate among a strong list of applicants for the role.

“I’ve been in Darwin my whole life and always thought being an ambassador was such an interesting and beautiful thing to do, so to be chosen is super exciting,” Ms McManus said.

“I still remember my first Cup, it was amazing and I couldn’t believe the atmosphere and how everyone was dressed.

“I’ve been hooked ever since on checking what everyone does at Fashions on the Field and the excitement and everyone coming together for Cup Day.

“We don’t always get the opportunity to dress up in the Territory and wear fancy headwear, I’m so excited for that, everyone being able to show off over the three weeks is really exciting.

“All walks of life come together, celebrating unique fashion, the sport of thoroughbred racing and all that it has to offer.”

Darwin Turf Club Chairperson Craig Trezise said Ms McManus was a great choice for the ambassador role.

“Brooke is a big supporter of Darwin and of thoroughbred racing and has been a frequent attendee of several Darwin Cup Carnivals,” he said.

“She also has a genuine love of horses and fashion. There’s no doubt Brooke will prove to be a great advocate for Darwin’s showpiece event.”

The Great Northern Darwin Cup Carnival commences on July 5 and runs through to August 4 with tickets on sale through the Darwin Turf Club website at www.darwinturfclub.org.au
