There’s change at the top of the Northern Territory Real Estate Institute, with Aswin De Silva leaving the chief executive’s job after two years in the role.
Mr De Silva took over from long-time chief executive Quentin Killian, who left the role after 12 years in January 2022.
REINT chair Carol Need said Mr De Silva had “made for a strong organisation with a clear vision for the future”.
“While this will be a period of transition for staff and members alike, the board are dedicated to REINT’s vision for our industry, and we wish him all the best in this new chapter,” Ms Need said.
“The real estate and housing industry continues to be a topic of interest for many, and with housing at critical shortage and new policy around first home builds from both government and opposition parties, there’s plenty on the horizon for our industry and we look forward to playing a key role representing both renters and owners alike.”
Mr De Silva led REINT during the post-Covid recovery, soaring interest rates and a general lull in the Territory’s property market which saw almost a year of negative house price growth between 2022 and 2023.
“It has been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to know and deal with members and industry partners alike, during my two-and half-year journey at REINT,” Mr De Silva said.
“I love the industry, but more importantly the people, and I am proud to depart leaving REINT on a strong footing, having kicked multiple goals and with a foundation of many more member services on the horizon.”
Mr De Silva joins a slew of departing industry leaders moving on from the Northern Territory.
