An inspiring new art tradition in the Top End begins this week with the inaugural Rotary Club of Darwin Art Show and Auction taking place from July 2-4 at Charles Darwin University’s city Danala campus.
The landmark event will showcase a curated collection of artworks from acclaimed local, national, and international artists which includes works of visual art and artefacts, culminating in a live auction on Friday, July 4.
All proceeds will support the Rotary Art Fund at Charles Darwin University, helping regional and remote students access life-changing art bursaries while attending CDU.
The high-value pieces up for auction will be available to bid on both in person and online.
Many of the artists are household names and form the very fabric of Australian Art.
Rotary Club Darwin’s Peter Hopton said the event will help support the next generation of Northern Territory artists.
He said eclectic art pieces will be open for public viewing and pre-sales between July 2-4.
Art collectors and community supporters are invited to attend the exhibition and charity auction.
More than 80 artworks will be available for pre-sale throughout the exhibition, with 26 exclusive pieces reserved for the auction.
Buyers will have the opportunity to acquire original pieces from respected artists, while helping fund CDU Art Students’ education, supplies, and creative development.
