Alleged hit-and-run driver Jake Danby expected to plead guilty in Northern Territory Supreme Court

A driver who is alleged to have struck one man into another, before fleeing the scene, will have his hit-and-run case heard before the Supreme Court on February 6 this year.
The alleged hit and run happened near Hibiscus Shopping Centre on June 13, 2024.
It has previously been reported one of the pedestrians, a 39-year-old man, was propelled a distance by the impact of the vehicle.
The man knocked over another victim in the process.
Superintendent Brendan Linder of NT Police at the time confirmed the 39-year-old man died days later in hospital.
The man became the 27th life lost on Territory roads in 2024, with a total of 60 lives lost for the year.
The alleged driver, 24-year-old Jake Phillip Danby, is accused of fleeing the scene, as well as being unlicensed in an unregistered and uninsured vehicle at the time of the incident.
Appearing in the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday afternoon, Mr Danby’s lawyer Peter Maley indicated his client would plead guilty to the first charge of hit and run driving causing death in the Supreme Court next month.
The remaining charges will be adjourned for three months to April 4.
Mr Danby remains out on bail with conditions.
