A“brave, amazing, adventurous and beautiful little girl” who died suddenly and unexpectedly in June has given another child a second shot at life after donating her organs.
Millicent Edwards collapsed suddenly at her family home in Alice Springs for unknown reasons on June 14.
The four-year-old was placed in an induced coma at the Alice Springs Hospital before being flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
A GoFundMe created in Millicent’s memory says she “fought hard to stay in this world but danced her way to heaven on Friday the 16th of June where she was surrounded by family and friends”.
“Millicent was a bubbly, kind and special little girl that touched the lives of so many,” it said.
“Millicent attended the local dance studio, childcare and preschool where she had made many friends that adored her.”
Millicent’s parents Cody and Amanda posted a touching video of their daughter laughing and playing to their business Facebook page in memory of their “little dancing queen.”
“You are and always will be our brave, amazing, adventurous and beautiful little girl,” they said.
“You stole everyone’s heart the day you were born and words can’t describe the hole you will leave not only in our lives, but every single person that got the pleasure to know you and spend time with you.”
The grieving parents said Millicent had “changed the world for a second time” through becoming an organ donor.
“Thanks to you, you are able to give life to others that need it,” they said.
“Rest in peace our warrior princess, we will always love you.”
Tributes have flown for the “precious angel’ with $32,382 raised in eight days to support Millicent’s family in paying for her funeral and taking time to grieve.
“Our hearts are broken, Millie has touched so many people in her life, she will forever live on in our hearts,” one donor said.
“What a wonderful 4.5 years of life your beautiful girl had thanks to you both, keep dancing little Millie,” another said.
In a separate post, the family asked “in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Royal Flying Doctor Service or sign up to become an organ donor.”
