The Adelaide Crows, despite repping a number of iconic Territory names, lost the 2021 AFLW Grand Final on Saturday.
Led by acting captain Ange Foley, who had previously won multiple premierships and two Gwynne Medals with NTFL side Waratah, and with livewires Danielle Ponter from the extended Rioli/Long clan and St Mary’s, and Stevie-Lee Thompson, who played with Wanderers, playing up forward, the Crows couldn’t match it with the Lions, with a final margin of 18 points separating the teams.
Thompson kicked the first goal for the Crows in a tight first quarter, while Ponter kicked the second, adding to her Grand Final tally after booting three in the Crows’ 2019 triumph.
Foley led from the backline, setting up her team’s forays forward before a suspect knee injury ruled her out of the game late in the third quarter, when the Lions ran away with the game.
