A Territory boy has been charged with breach of bail after stabbing his girlfriend

Alice Springs police have arrested a teenage boy in relation to a serious domestic violence incident against his girlfriend and her cousin.

Alice Springs police have arrested a teenage boy in relation to a serious domestic violence incident against his girlfriend and her cousin.

Police allege about 2am on February 20 the teenager used a pair of scissors to repeatedly stab his girlfriend in her left thigh and once in her back.

When the girlfriend’s 15-year-old female cousin attempted to intervene, the teen allegedly turned on her and stabbed her once in the back with the scissors.

Both girls managed to run from the scene and both required medical treatment at a local clinic.

Police received information that the youth allegedly fled the community and had travelled almost 300km to Alice Springs where he was arrested by police overnight.

He was charged with recklessly endanger serious harm, endangering others (being rescued), aggravated assault, and breach of bail.

He was also served with a full non-contact DVO.

The matter will be put before an on-duty judge for determination today.

A police spokesman said bail would not be granted on this occasion.
