The $12.44 million Dundee boat ramp major upgrade is complete and open for use.
Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure, Bill Yan, said the $12.44 million investment will improve access, enhance safety, and future-proof one of the Territory’s most popular fishing destinations.
“These upgrades are a game-changer for Dundee and amateur fishermen,” Minister Yan said.
“We’re delivering infrastructure that makes fishing more accessible, safer, and more enjoyable, while supporting the local economy and jobs.”
Works included the full reconstruction of the groyne, construction of a new fishing platform, an accessible footpath, and a walkway jetty structure that allows for land-based fishing and short-term mooring.
Mr Yan said the new facilities will make it easier to load and unload vessels without disrupting ramp access for others.
He said the upgraded ramp also features design improvements to reduce sand build-up, cutting back on maintenance requirements and maximising ramp availability year-round.
Local company Advance Civil Engineering Pty Ltd delivered the project, with construction starting in September 2024 and completed on time.
“Recreational fishing is part of the Territory way of life. It connects families and communities, supports small business, and attracts thousands of tourists each year,” Mr Yan said.
“Every year, this sector contributes around $144 million in direct economic activity and a further $126 million indirectly – and we’re backing it in with real investment and real outcomes.
“The Finocchiaro CLP Government is proud to be delivering on its commitment to action, certainty and security for Territorians — supporting the industries and lifestyles that make the Territory great.”
