An all-inclusive fitness gym is coming to Cairns in what the owner thinks is the first of its kind in the country.

Former champion boxer Benny Kite is opening B Athletic, a class-orientated gym that uses the programs he followed as a professional athlete to help bring the city’s fitness lovers to their peak physical performance.

Mr Kite grew up in Cairns before travelling down to Brisbane to pursue his career as a boxer, winning an Australian title, a WBF title, 2020 fighter of the year and 26 professional fights.

“I saw a huge gap in the market in the gyms available across the country and I want to show people there’s a better way to train,” Mr Kite said.

“Rather than opening up another 24/7 weights gym or general class-based exercises, I’m bringing everything I learnt as a professional athlete to the public.”

Mr Kite said the classes on offer range from boxing to functional fitness, with a huge focus on recovery.

“We’re offering a recovery centre with plunge baths, massage guns and infra red saunas, because recovery is just as important as movement,” Mr Kite said.

“Our stretch classes are also one of a kind, focusing on stretching as well as mobility.”

Mr Kite said B Athletic was all you could ask for under one roof.

“I want people to be able to come to our gym/fitness centre and learn how to get the most out of themselves through a variety of movements and exercises,” he said.

“The boxing classes we teach will also be original, using professional boxing techniques but in a non-fighting gym.”

The gym will open on July 1 with free classes on offer on the day and appearances from local supplement brands.

“Memberships for the classes and recovery centre, or the recovery centre alone are available,” Mr Kite said.

“There’s also a creche available for the families so they can workout worry-free.”

Every Saturday, the gym also offers a community boxing session at 8am, free of charge.
