New Donald Trump wax figure unveiled at Gold Coast museum

President Donald Trump has been immortalised on the Gold Coast with the unveiling of a striking new waxwork. Find out which detail took weeks to perfect.

The Gold Coast Wax Museum has unveiled its latest addition — a lifesize rendering of the United States’ 45th and 47th president, Donald Trump.

The reveal comes as Trump arrived at the first-month mark of his second term in office this week.

Donning his typical navy suit, red tie and Made in America flag lapel pin, the 78-year-old has been moulded into a 6’3ft figure, positioned at the museum’s entrance in Surfers Paradise.

“They grabbed the height off his mugshot,” museum spokesperson Mark Tomlinson said.

“They grab info from wherever they can and the artists try to get it as accurate as possible.”

Trump’s signature two thumbs up and pout are on full display, with a Make America Great Again hat sitting in the background.

The $90,000 figure took nearly seven months to complete, with the artist dedicating weeks to individually placing each strand of the former Apprentice boss’ trademark lacquered yellow hairdo.

“His hair is extremely difficult to match — it’s the hardest part,” Mr Tomlinson said. “But it turned out great.”

His skin tone and facial features were also closely replicated.

“That yellowish glow has come through well,” he joked.

Initially unsure whether to commission Joe Biden or Trump, the museum made the call on the day of his assassination attempt in July.

“As soon as that happened, we knew — we placed an order that day,” Mr Tomlinson said.

He said Trump had his own display for now but he would eventually join the other former presidents and prime ministers inside.

“He’s quite a controversial figure,” he said. “Some people love him, some people really do hate him — but he’s someone people will talk about.”
