THE National Disability Insurance Agency has revealed when Angus Hopkins will be able to move from a wheelbarrow to his new motorised wheelchair.

THE National Disability Insurance Agency has revealed when Angus Hopkins will be able to move from a wheelbarrow to his new motorised wheelchair.

The Nobby nine-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, has captured the attention of the nation after his mother Jody Ezzy revealed she was told by the NDIA it could take up to two years to get a new wheelchair.

Angus has outgrown his current wheelchair and his family currently pulls him around in a garden trolley or puts him on a horse because it was safer and easier.

A spokeswoman for the NDIA, which administered the National Disability Insurance Scheme, said the country boy should receive the chair within two months.

"Angus' wheelchair has been approved, and this approval has been communicated to Ms Ezzy," she said.

"The NDIA will continue to work with Angus and Ms Ezzy to ensure he continues to receive the reasonable and necessary disability-related supports he needs.

"The estimated time for supply of the wheelchair is six to eight weeks."

Ms Ezzy said Angus was thrilled with the announcement, adding that he felt relieved to receive the positive news.
