IT’S a long way from the North Pole but Santa has made his way back to the sunny Gold Coast.
The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped many aspects of our lives and Santa’s favourite tradition at The Pines Elanora has transformed too.
Due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, photos are not on Santa’s knee this year, rather 1.5m apart. The Pines centre manager Hilary Jacobs said it had not stopped kids and pets getting a memorable shot and sharing their Christmas wishes with the big man in red.
“After the uncertainty of this year, we’re excited to have Santa back at the shopping centre meeting families,” she said.
Most Gold Coast shopping centres have followed suit and are encouraging families to bring props such as Santa hats, reindeer ears or an elf costume.

ROBINA TOWN CENTRE
Location: Robina Town Centre Dr, Robina – ground level outside of Myer.
Robina Town Centre is changing to landscape photos to make this year’s visit with Santa COVID safe. Santa will be in town until Christmas Eve. Sensitive photo sessions with a sensory-friendly environment are also available before the shops in the centre open. They are also offering a Zoom Calls at Home with Santa this year!

Burleigh Stocklands
Location: 149 West Burleigh Road, Burleigh Heads – near Aldi.
Burleigh Stockland’s has the option for your family, friends and even your pets to come take a photo with Santa this year. All bookings are essential for photo sessions, Paws and Claws and Sensitive Santa.
Santa will be around with his sleigh until Christmas Eve but online bookings are essential.

The Pines Elanora
Location: Guineas Creek Road & K P McGrath Drive, Elanora – near the Yes Optus Shop.
Santa will be visiting the Pines Elanora in his beach attire this year. You also have the chance to bring your pets to see Santa from December 17. Photo sessions are priced from $12.
There will be a virtual queuing system, where an SMS will be sent when it is your turn for the photos.

Australia Fair
Location: 42 Marine Parade, Southport – ground floor, outside Coles.
Australia Fair has stepped it up this year, giving you the chance to create a ELFie with Santa and his helpers. It will be a free custom mini-movie of you exploring the north pole with Santa.
You don’t have to book, just walk-in sometime between 10am and 4pm daily.

Pacific Fair
Location: Hooker Boulevard, Broadbeach – Santa’s Pavilion outside Myer.
Santa is back in his gold Pavilion this year at Pacific Fair from 9am to 7pm daily. Every child that visits Santa will receive a free children’s book as an early Christmas present.
Bookings are essential.

Helensvale Westfield
Location: 1-29 Millaroo Drive, Helensvale – near Target.
Santa and his helpers have travelled back to Westfield and will be celebrating all things Christmas from 9am – 7pm daily. This year, there will also be a sensitive Santa session available for those who struggle in the peak of the Christmas chaos.
Westfield Plus Members will receive a second free digital photo with the purchase of Santa’s Gift Pack, valued at $8.95. To redeem, simply show your member card inside the app at the Santa Photography set before your session.
Online bookings are recommended as walk-in slots will be very limited.

Coolangatta SLSC
Location: Marine Pde, Coolangatta.
Tired of the same old shopping centre Santa photos? Coast clubbies are offering an ideal alternative!
On Wednesday, December 23 from 3pm to 6pm, Santa will be visiting Coolie with his sleigh to visit locals and their fur babies.
Photo sessions cost $35 (for three shots). You will need to book and pay online.

Surfers Paradise Cavill Mall
Location: Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise.
In Australian fashion, Santa will be visiting Surfers Paradise in his boardies ready for selfies this Christmas. He will be roaming Cavil Mall from 10am -1pm and 4pm -7pm each day from December 20-24.

The Strand Coolangatta
Location: 72-80 Marine Parade, Coolangatta.
Santa will be roaming The Strand Coolangatta with his helpers this Christmas. To ensure a photo make sure you bring your own camera to secure the moment. He will be in The Stand until Christmas Eve from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Every day until Christmas Eve Santa will be at the premium mall (outside Hugo boss) at 12pm and at the Harbour Town Eats (near the Christmas tree at 2pm) for selfies on his buggy.
