Grundy is alleged to have taken a 2018 Ford Mustang from a private residence on Martinique Way, Clear Island Waters just before midnight on Friday.

After an alert, police tracked down and intercepted the vehicle, deploying road spikes on Savoy Street, Broadbeach.

The 18-year-old driver then allegedly crashed into a nearby brick letterbox.

Police arrested him, and Queensland Ambulance transported him to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for treatment.

The teenager did not appear in court and the matter was adjourned to December 7.
