DETECTIVES are investigating if a murdered Singaporean student found in a Brisbane hotel was to be involved in an arranged marriage.
Police sources told Th e Courier-Mail horrific stab wounds were inflicted on the student’s stomach in one of the most brutal attacks seen.
Meena Narayanan, 27, was stabbed to death, her body found inside a third-floor room at the Travelodge in Upper Mount Gravatt early yesterday.

Screams were heard coming from the hotel room and police forced their way in, where they found the dead woman just after 12.30am, after a staff member called triple-0.
A man, 31, who police will allege stabbed the student to death, was found with suspected self-inflicted wounds and taken to the PA Hospital in a serious condition.
The man, an Indian from South Africa, was under police guard last night.
A knife was also seized by police after the stabbing.
Detective Inspector Tod Reid said the woman’s family were assisting police investigations.
The woman’s brother arrived in Brisbane last night from Singapore and was too distraught to speak.
“Her family are quite distraught obviously and we’re speaking with them at the moment to gather background as to why this incident happened,” Det Insp Reid said.
Online profiles stated the 27-year-old had worked in finance and accounting positions in the past few years in Singapore and was studying a masters of business in Brisbane at QUT.
Meena in February last year wrote on social media that she was enjoying her life after passing an exam.
“I’m very happy. Today marks another milestone in my life. A lot has happened and is still going on. Goes to show that when going gets tough … the tough gets going. However I wldnt have made it half as far without the support from my loved ones. You know who u all are!” the post read.
