SSAA NT confirms members involved in Killarney Station horse shooting were invited there to control feral animals
THE Sporting Shooters Association of Australia’s NT branch has confirmed its members attended Killarney Station last weekend, when 30 horses valued at approximately $500,000 were shot.

THE Sporting Shooters Association of Australia’s NT branch has confirmed its members attended Killarney Station last weekend, when 30 horses valued at approximately $500,000 were shot.
In a brief statement, the branch said members had been asked onto the station by management to conduct shooting of feral animals.
“We confirm that members of SSAA NT did attend Killarney Station, at the request of their management, to conduct feral animal control activities,” the statement read.

“As the matter is currently being investigated, we provide no further comment at this time.
“We ask that the privacy of our members be respected.”
The statement comes more than a week after the incident, which left station management and staff members heartbroken.
“The loss of these horses has had a massive impact on staff, management and (the) principles of Killarney station,” Killarney Station manager Jamie Laurisson told the NT News.
“Initially (there was) shock and disbelief, then grief, anger, heartbreak and devastation.”

Investigations by the NT Police Northern Investigation Section are continuing.
