Police are hoping that a post mortem, which is currently underway, will identify whether the puncture wound was caused by a bullet or was as a result of the crash.

Sources have told the Bulletin that after the crash on Friday night a chest wound was identified on Martin’s body, but it was unknown how that wound was sustained.

Yesterday afternoon, Ross’s body was found nearby in bushland at on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Tallebudgera Creek Road.

The 36-year-old Coomera man, who had appeared in a Sydney court just a week ago, had a “significant” head injury.

An autopsy will be performed tomorrow to determine the cause of this injury.

Motorists have reported seeing an injured man walking along the side of Tallebudgera Creek Road around the time of Friday’s crash.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone else who may have witnessed a person – or has dashcam footage – in the vicinity of Tallebudgera Creek Road from 9pm to 10pm on Friday to come forward.

Detective Superintendent Kerry Johnson told media this afternoon that a member of the pubic known to Ross found the man’s body yesterday.

“A member of the public who was known to Ross found him and brought it to our attention,” he said.

“(The man) is assisting us with our inquiries.”

More than 40 detectives are working on the case and more officers are expected to be involved tomorrow as police hunt suspects.

Supt Johnson said he was unaware of any bullet casings being found at the site of Ross’ death and was unable to say what had caused the puncture wound to Martin.
“Whether it was a stab wound or gunshot wound, it could be anything. It was a distinctive wound,” he said.

“That vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and he had a number of injuries. I would suggest we will know by the end of the day.”
