A senior NSW media adviser and former Nine producer has been charged with possessing child abuse material and drugs.
Matt Bachl was arrested at a home in Chatswood, Sydney, on Friday and charged with two counts of possession child abuse material and one count possession of a prohibited drug, according to The Daily Telegraph.
“Following an investigation by Sydney City Police Area Command under Strike Force Saltia, detectives executed a search warrant at a Chatswood unit just after 6am on Friday 28 March, seizing electronic devices and gamma butyrolactone (GBL),” a NSW Police spokesperson told news.com.au.
“The occupant, a 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station.”
He appeared before Hornsby Local Court and was granted conditional bail.
Bachl has been working as a senior media adviser for Corrective Services NSW and, prior to that he worked at Nine for 11 years.
He was a senior supervising producer and was previously the Europe, Middle East and Africa bureau chief for the media company.
The 38-year-old will appear back in Hornsby Local Court on April 9.
