SCOTT Morrison’s new ministry has been sworn in at Government House in Canberra.

Despite the brutal machinations of the past week the mood was upbeat in the Drawing Room at Yarralumla.

Many MPs and Senators brought along their families and children for the occasion, including new Treasurer Josh Frydenberg who carried his young daughter, Gemma, in on his hip.

They chatted jubilantly as they waited for proceedings to begin. Kissing, shaking hands and congratulating each other on their respective portfolios.

Governor-General Peter Cosgrove invited all those sworn in to recite the Affirmation of Office.

He then posed for photos with each new member of the ministry.

“Nice Tie Mathias,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison quipped after Mathias Cormann was sworn in as Minister for Finance and the Public Service.

Mr Morrison introduced his new ministry from a podium behind Governor-General Cosgrove.

Children played in the background and chatted as their parents swore allegiance to the Queen.

Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations and Minister for Women Kelly O’Dwyer had a personal cheer squad with Josh Frydenberg’s daughter Gemma shouting “yayyyyy” for Ms O’Dwyer as she stood to be sworn in.

The Secretary of Prime Minister and Cabinet Martin Parkinson was present for the ceremony and sat in the front row.

Greg Hunt, who backed Peter Dutton in last week’s leadership showdown and stood as his deputy, opted to have no family attend, with just a single staff member joining him.

Mr Morrison added a personal touch to the ceremony, presenting all new members of the ministry with an Australia flag pin.

Mr Morrison began wearing his pin as immigration minister.

Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert, a longtime friend of Prime Minister Morrison and instrumental in last week’s victory for the MP for Cook beamed as he rose to join the Governor-General.

But he ended his swearing in being teased by his colleagues after he forgot the flag pin gifted to the ministry, having to be prompted by Mr Morrison.

The room erupted in laughter and even the PM joined in.

“You had one job,” he quipped.

The Prime Minister then joined his new ministry for photos on the steps of Government House.

In a move to foster a spirit of moving forward, he sought out key Mr Dutton backer Angus Taylor for a single photo labelling him the “most important minister” responsible for getting electricity prices down.

His new ministry is now “Team Australia”.
