More Queensland teachers have been recognised for their amazing contributions to the state’s schools with a 60 per cent jump in TEACHX nominations compared to 2019. See which Far North teachers made the list.

QUEENSLAND’S most outstanding teachers, short-listed for the state’s most prestigious awards, have been revealed, with a staggering 60 per cent spike in nominations amid COVID-19.
Across six award categories, a record 60 per cent increase of teachers were nominated this year for the Queensland College of Teachers’ lauded TEACHX awards: 74 of those nominees have now been short-listed. Finalists will be announced next month.

The coveted awards are the only state government awards recognising teachers from public and non-government schools.
Far north short-listed teachers include Brittany Nolan (Western Cape College) in excellence in beginning to teach; Trevor Auer (Cairns State High School), outstanding contribution to teaching; Cathy Nixon (Cairns West State School), outstanding contribution to school community; and Kali Ahmat (Tagai State College, Badu Campus) for excellence in teaching.
QCT board chairwoman Wendy Patton said the number of nominations was due to teachers’ incredible efforts during COVID-19-imposed remote schooling.
