Katter’s Australian Party’s Nick Dametto took on three other candidates in a debate on the electorate’s biggest issues.
LNP candidate Scott Piper, Labor’s Paul Jacob and independent Jen Sackley took on the incumbent on reef regulations, eco-tourism, jobs, COVID-19 recovery, regional crime and Bruce Highway upgrade.
Townsville Bulletin editor Craig Warhurst moderated the debate which included questions submitted by readers.

Mr Dametto won the Hinchinbrook seat in 2017 after preferences were distributed in the North Queensland seat.
Candidates got to make a one minute opening pitch followed by the questions.
They also made a 30 second final pitch.
The debate is held in conjunction with The Courier-Mail, which is hosting a number of similar events in the lead up to polling day.
