Peregian Beach homes destroyed after bushfire rips through Sunshine Coast

Photos have emerged showing the devastating impact of fires around Peregian Beach in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Hundreds of residents were forced to flee their homes after the fast-moving blaze appeared on Monday, destroying one home and a shed in the Peregian Beach area.

Queensland’s acting premier Jackie Trad said only one home was lost to the blaze thanks to the hard work of Queensland firefighters.

“Last night’s herculean efforts resulted in nothing short of a miracle,” Ms Trad told reporters on Tuesday.

Ms Trad said one home was destroyed in the Peregian area, south of Noosa, with a second suffering significant damage. Up to 10 homes may have suffered varying degrees of damage, according to acting Sunshine Coast mayor Tim Dwyer.
