GEORGE Christensen has been reported to police by a Queensland environmental activist after the outspoken Nationals MP posted a photo of himself with a handgun on social media.
Just days after the horrific Florida high school massacre, Nationals MP Christensen posted a mock image of himself appearing to point a gun at Greens voters.
The controversial North Queensland MP sparked the furore — which has led to calls for his sacking — with an initial post on his Facebook showing him at a pistol shooting range in Mackay.
His photo was accompanied by a caption describing shooting as “a great sport”.

SCHOOL SHOOTINGS: Why won’t America change its gun laws?
“Shooters don’t deserve to be demonised like they are by the media and the Left,” Christensen wrote.
“Gun owners aren’t criminals. They are Olympians, Commonwealth Games medallists, conservationists, farmers and many of them veterans.”
His post attracted comments from supporters, thanking him for backing gun owners.

Christensen then posted another photo of himself, in what appears to be a misguided attempt at humour, as a reply to his commenters.
The image showed him appearing to point a gun at an unseen target. In a homage to Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry, Christensen added the caption “You gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky, greenie punks?”
However Stop Adani’s Ben Pennings said today Mr Christensen was an “appalling example” to his constituents and “threats of physical violence to peaceful protesters are particularly unacceptable”.
Mr Pennings said he’d added Mr Cristensen’s post to a complaint he filed on Thursday with
Queensland police after receiving over 100 death threats online.

“I reckon the abusers are ultimately cowards but I’ve gone to the police just to be sure,” Mr Pennings said.
“I’ve added George Christensen to the list and will report him to the Federal Police also. We shouldn’t allow bullies to be Federal MPs.”
However Queensland police responded by saying “no offence has been committed.

Christensen appears to have deleted the post after it was reported to police.
Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young called for Christensen to be sacked.
A Member of Parliament inciting violence against a group of voters should be a sackable offence. If the leader of the Nationals had any class heâd sack him. https://t.co/w2zlo3JdTI

It looks like George Christensen posted this yesterday on his FB page. Does he know how many park rangers and conservationists are murdered each year? pic.twitter.com/RuRr68Kaw5

Wow. So according to @GChristensenMP apparently two days is the respectful length of time to wait after a school shooting before making a joke about massacring your political nemeses. pic.twitter.com/VsI88cdjFA
