Lotto: Tips and tricks that could win you millions

These are the final numbers and indication of who won a share of Lotto’s $30m Megadraw. But there’s still unclaimed prize money across Australia worth up to $2m.

The winning numbers were 5,7,14,16,17,44 and supplementaries were 26 and 31.

There are four winners from the NSW/ACT who have won $1,578,947.37.

Others have won between $7.95 up to $11,461.35.

Lotto’s $30 million Megadraw — the largest Saturday Lotto of the year — is a game of chance, but history shows there are more popular numbers than others.

New data obtained from The Lott by News Corp has revealed the most frequently and least frequently drawn numbers for Saturday Lotto during the past 35 years.

The most frequently drawn, or ‘hot’, numbers were 1, 11, 8 and 40, and the least frequently drawn, or ‘cold’ numbers were 44, 30, 14 and 17.

Victoria appears to have the biggest chance of a winning entry after the state bagged 18 Megadraw wins in the past four years.

Queensland is the next closest state with 16 wins and NSW/ACT had 14 wins.

Western Australia also had 14 wins, South Australia had six wins, Tasmania had three wins and the Northern Territory had one win.

Winning the Lotto is every person’s dream — but there are hot and cold numbers people pick.

The Lott predicted up to one-in-three Australian adults were expected to buy a ticket in the $30 Million Megadraw with more than 1200 tickets a minute sold in store and online at the peak times.

The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said in previous years, the Megadraw has created more millionaires in a single night than any other draw.

“The last Megadraw saw 11 division one winning entries share the $30 million jackpot, with each entry enjoying a $2.7 million draw,” he said.

“Given the twists and turns of 2020, I’m sure many Aussies are keen for the chance to kickstart the New Year with a bang and will be eagerly awaiting the draw on Saturday night.”

Mr Hart said there were 312 Saturday Lotto division one winners overall across Australia last year who pocketed more than $355 million in prize money.

“Victorian players enjoyed almost a third of these with 103 wins, while Queensland had 62 and New South Wales and the ACT had 58,” he said.

Mr Hart also had some advice for those buying a Lotto ticket, to ensure they can be easily found and notified of their winnings.

“For anyone buying an entry, I recommend that you register your entry to a player card or online account,” he said.

“This means your prize is secure and we can call you with the amazing news should you be holding a division one winning entry.”

It comes as News Corp can also reveal there are still 17 division one and first prizes worth more than $12.85 million waiting to be claimed.

Ten are from Queensland, six are in NSW/ACT and one is in South Australia.

One of the most recent wins was on October 24 this year — a $1.6 million prize from a Saturday Lotto game sold at a petrol station in Hume in the ACT.

The oldest is a $2 million prize sold for a Wednesday Gold Lotto game at NewsExtra DFO in Cairns on January 22, 2014.
