HE is known as the “Dubsmash king” and his crazy hair has become his trademark.

But Townsville performer Ian Zaro will step away from the computer and on to the small screen when he joins the cast of ABC comedy series Black Comedy next month.

The first episode of the second series airs from February 3 with Zaro joining castmates Aaron Fa’Aoso, Nakkiah Lui, Steven Oliver, Elizabeth Wymarra and Adam Briggs, alongside guest actors including Deborah Mailman, Brooke Satchwell and Harriet Dyer.

The 20-year-old writer, who lives with his mother and brother in Townsville when not filming, already has a cult following, amassing millions of online fans via his comedy videos.

Black Comedy features some of Australia’s most talented indigenous performers and “goes blackly where no other blackfella has gone before”.

The series explores what it means to be indigenous in contemporary Australia and sees the return of Townsville’s favourite gays, the Tiddas.

There will also be a host of new characters, according to the ABC.

The series returns at 9pm on February 3.
