AN iconic Dreamworld ride is being given its last hurrah before being retired this weekend after almost 23 years at the park.
The Tower of Terror II will officially close tomorrow afternoon to make way for new attractions, after a $50 million investment was announced earlier this year.
Dreamworld COO Greg Yong said the decision was made as part of a review of existing rides.
“New technology in the theme park industry continues to develop and become more advanced each and every year,” he said.
“We believe the success of our future is about investing in new, state-of-the-art experiences for our guests wherever we can.

“This means some of our old favourites have been retired to make way for these new experiences including Sky Voyager and other attractions recently announced which will start to be introduced to the park in coming months.”
Fans of the ride will have the chance to take it on one last time before it officially retires at 5pm tomorrow.
Originally opened in 1997, the Tower of Terror was the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world, reaching speeds of 161km/h.
A revamp in 2010 saw the launch of the car reversed and the tunnel extended, and it remains one of the top five tallest coasters in the world.
