The Gold Coast is about to get a spectacular new addition to its skyline - a $3 million, 6000 light installation. Here’s your first look.

THE spectacular Jewel towers are getting lit.

The crystalline highrises had already become a postcard addition to the Glitter Strip skyline but now their visual appeal has gone next level with a new $3 million cutting edge, 6000 light pixel installation.

Family firm Blue Star Pacific, founded in 2004, is behind the new display which took 4000 work hours to complete and install via crane at the Surfers Paradise towers.

Blue Star has worked with Jewel construction company Multiplex and site owner AW Jewel Pty Ltd on the project – Blue Star’s most ambitious to date – since 2016.

Blue Star construction manager Lee Bell: “Blue Star Pacific are extremely proud of the final result that can now be shared with the rest of the Gold Coast to enjoy.

“Our goal was to deliver a project to our clients, Multiplex and AW Jewel Pty Ltd, that would far exceed their expectations – and we are excited to have achieved this.

“We had an amazing team on this project, and their hard work, quality of workman-ship and dedication is what has produced the iconic, visually stunning three towers that now form part of the Gold Coast skyline.

“We were faced with many obstacles in the installation, rain, wind, storms, access, programming and sequencing whilst trying to make the initial conceptual design a reality.”

Asked about the light shows, a spokesperson said: “The sky is the limit, each pixel is programmed separately, if you can dream it, they can make it happen.”

The display can pulse, sparkle, mimic a rainbow, sunrise and more.

Blue Star Pacific, electrotechnology specialists have a host of credits including the Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane, the Meriton Suites on the Gold Coast and Rhapsody Resort lighting in Surfers Paradise.
