The most common cancers in Australia and the symptoms to look out for

BANTER is endless between Dan Anstey and Sasha Mielczarek but there’s one thing they talk seriously about. And no, it’s not a good suit.

Both the Hit90.9 breakfast host Mr Anstey and reality TV personality Mr Mielczarek have had family members affected by prostate cancer.

One man in nine will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime. It’s a statistic they won’t allow to go silent on.

“My grandad has prostate cancer and he died with it,” he said.

“It’s something guys need to stay on top of. Guys need to keep talking to each other.”

It’s a similar story with Mr Mielczarek.

“A lot of blokes won’t get tested for that reason (finger in bum) and as a result something that’s curable becomes not curable.”

Mr Anstey and Mr Mielczarek have joined forces to raise money for health awareness charity Movember by being a part of the world’s annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR).

They will join the tradition of dressing to the nines in a dapper suit and jumping on a motorbike on September 27.

“I like going up to Mt Tamborine,” Mr Mielczarek said.

“The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride plans to raise $1.15 million this year for prostate cancer and men’s health.

“It is going to be different this year. It’s to ride solo but together.

“With covid going on at the moment, and everyone being separated from each other, it’s so important to keep talking.”
