Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s partner Jodie Haydon will join him on the federal election campaign trail.
The is what we know about her.
Who is Anthony Albanese’s partner?
Mr Albanese has been with Jodie Haydon, a superannuation professional, since 2020 when the paid met at a union conference.
Ms Haydon, 46, grew up in Avoca on the NSW Central Coast — the same region where the paid have since bought a clifftop house to be their marital home.
The pair got together after Mr Albanese had separated from his partner of 30 years and wife of 19 years NSW deputy premier Carmel Tebbutt.
Mr Albanese has spoken about being left heartbroken by the sudden end of his marriage in 2019 — the same year he became Labor leader following the party’s bruising election loss under Bill Shorten.
While the Prime Minister shares his son Nathan with his ex-wife, Ms Haydon and Mr Albanese do not have any children together.
How did Albo propose?
After a romantic proposal on Valentine’s Day in 2024 after dinner at the Italian and Sons restaurant in Canberra, the pair became engaged.
It also makes Mr Albanese the first Prime Minister to get engaged during his term.
He chose Cerrone Jewellers in Leichhardt in his electorate for Ms Haydon’s dazzling ring which is believed to be a three-carat round brilliant cut diamond in a rose gold band.
Jewellers previously told Newscorp the ring would be worth anywhere from $60,000 to $240,000 if it’s made from a natural diamond.
When are they getting married?
The pair have confirmed they will not be married until after the federal election.
“That will … likely be the second half of next year, but it will be after the election because I want to focus on the job at hand,” Mr Albanese told ABC radio in September last year.
“We looked at the diary and there are no gaps between now and the end of the year.”
Mr Albanese and Ms Haydon are the first unmarried pair to be in the Lodge since 2013 when Julie Gillard and her partner Timothy Mathieson moved out.
