If the Prime Minister walked by you on the street you would recognise him, would you not?
Maybe the Opposition leader Peter Dutton, former leaders Julia Gillard, John Howard and Bob Hawke?
What about fictional political characters with Love Actually’s The Prime Minister played by Hugh Grant and Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character Senator Selina Meyer in Veep?
Well, just weeks out from one of the biggest elections in the history of the country, The Daily Telegraph took to the streets of Sydney with some familiar faces to see if 30 every day Aussies recognised these people.

And to our surprise some people didn’t have a clue of Australia’s biggest candidates.

The man who has run Australia for the last three years, Anthony Albanese has had such a deep impact on the country some people were left blank when seeing his face.
“Don’t have a clue,” one Penrith shopper said when seeing Albanese’s headshot.
Bradley and Georgia were enjoying a stroll in Sydney’s Hyde Park before being shown a picture of the first female Prime Minister Gillard, their response, “the Prime Minister of Australia”.
Not quite 2013 guys.
Upon a look at Albo, “I don’t know”.
Dutton was a bit more recognisable.
George and Brianna knew of the Coalition leader, so did Rechelle, except she wouldn’t call him by his name.
“That’s Voldemort,” she said upon seeing Peter Dutton.
“We don’t like him.”
Surprisingly, the most popular among 30 asked English actor Grant, and “the chick from Seinfeld” Louis-Dreyfus’.
Bob Hawke and John Howard sat firmly towards the bottom of people recognised, with former prime minister Gillard the surprise of the bunch with the majority recognising her.
