Jacinta Nampijinpa Price had to be escorted by police into a town hall event after she was met with local Indigenous protesters who said her presence caused ‘angst and distress’ to the community. SEE HOW THE DAY UNFOLDED
Coalition Indigenous affairs spokeswoman Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has had to be escorted into a town hall event after a local Indigenous group attempted to block her from attending.
The Senator’s attendance was objected to by about 30 protesters, including the group Noonghars from the southwest of WA and elder Renae Isaacs-Guthridge, as she tried to enter a town hall in Bunbury with Liberal candidate for Forrest Ben Small.
It’s understood the group was protesting the Senator’s appearance over her previous advocacy against The Voice.
Meanwhile, the Opposition leader has urged the PM to put the Greens last, as one of its MPs already has, as he face questions over his plans to cut the public service.
It comes as Mr Dutton said his first thoughts were for his family after he was revealed to be the alleged target of a 16-year-old’s terror bomb plot.
