Peter Dutton’s pledge to voters as federal election 2025 begins

Peter Dutton has issued his first voter pledge as the election race begins, calling on Aussie voters to vote for the Coalition after “Labor’s bad decisions”.

Dutton promises to build a strong economy with low inflation

We live in the best country in the world.

Generations of Australians have built their lives – and our country – on the belief that if you work hard, you can get ahead and build a better future for your children.

But because of Labor’s bad decisions, Australians are doing it tough, and many are losing hope for their future.

Labor’s economic policies and wasteful spending have increased cost-of-living.

Australians are now paying, on average, 18% more for rent, 30% more for groceries, and over 30% more for power and gas.

The Prime Minister spent the first half of this term of Parliament obsessed with the Voice, when he should have been working on a plan to bring down inflation.

Under Labor, Australia has had the biggest fall in living standards in the developed world and a record 29,000 small businesses have gone bust.

In its first two years, the Government brought in a million migrants – that’s 70 per cent more than in any other two-year period in Australia’s history. For too many young Australians, the dream of homeownership is slipping away.

What sort of Prime Minister, in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, promises a 70 cent a day tax cut which doesn’t start for 15 months?

Ask yourself, are you or our country better off today than three years ago? The fact is, we can’t afford three more years of Labor.

Mr Albanese is too weak – and Labor is too incompetent – to fix the problems facing our country.

This election is a choice about who can better manage our economy and our safety to help Australians to get ahead.

The Coalition has an achievable plan to get our country back on track.

To provide immediate cost-of-living relief, a Coalition Government will provide petrol price relief, cutting 25 cents a litre – saving around $14 each time you fill up your car or ute.

A government I lead will build a stronger economy, with low inflation.

We will rein in the wasteful spending that fuels inflation.

We will reduce tax, red tape and the control of militant union bosses over small businesses. We will deliver cheaper energy to families and small businesses.

This includes by immediately delivering more Australian natural gas to Australians first, lowering energy costs. And preparing for our future by replacing retired coal plants with zero emissions nuclear energy.

We will make housing more affordable and restore the dream of home ownership by reducing Labor’s record migration intake, by funding critical infrastructure, by assisting first home buyers, and by restricting foreign investors.

And we will improve healthcare – reversing Labor’s decline in bulk-billing and, importantly, reversing their cuts to mental health services.

We will take the necessary decisions – and show the necessary resolve – to keep Australians safe, by boosting our defence and border security and community safety.

I bring experience and a track record of taking responsibility and getting the job done – as a police officer, successful small business owner, and a Minister.

I lead a united and experienced team ready to govern.

And I ask Australia to vote for your Liberal or Nationals candidate to get Australia back on track.
