THE seat of Dalrymple will be struck from Queensland’s electoral map under changes to the seat distribution leaked this afternoon.

The Queensland Redistribution Commission was due to hand down its proposed changes tomorrow morning but a map leaked to the Bullet i n this afternoon shows the electorate, held by Shane Knuth, is set to be scrapped.

Population growth across the state brought on a need to add four seats to the State Parliament increasing the number of MPs for Queensland from 89 to 93.

But after months of consultation none of these extra seats are set to go to North Queensland.

Instead Mr Knuth’s seat will be completely replaced by an expansion of Rob Katter’s Mount Isa electorate, to be renamed Traegar.

LNP MP Dale Last’s Burdekin electorate is also set to change dramatically and be renamed McMaster.

The new electorate will take some of the space currently occupied by Dalrymple and stretch from the fringes of Townsville, past Mackay and almost all the way to Rockhampton.
